Running a 7k With My Arms

I would say that today was the best day I've had since being here. Christy, Alex and I got on the bus and headed to the 7/11 gas station parking lot where we were told to meet Craig, our tour guide, where he picked us up in his sketchy white van. Don't worry, I promise this is the only sketchy part! It was a totally legitimate tour company! Anyway, we went on a kayak and snorkeling island hop tour with about 8 other people, all Aussies that were on holiday. We started out on a beach a ways past where we usually go in Surfers Paradise and got in our kayaks. They were double kayaks so Alex and I teamed up and Christy bravely went with one of the tour guides like a champ. We were in open water ways so there were huge boats passing around us and making big waves. It's really hard to control the movement of the kayaks so there were a few times that I was sure we were going to get run over by a boat or jet ski. After a while of paddling, we stopped at this island and walked through the grassy, sandy area. There were wild wallabies and lots of crabs that we could pick up! We also saw some dead jellyfish that were dried up so we could hold them! The island was honestly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Once we'd hiked a little ways, we ended up on a totally empty beach with big sand dunes, which were gorgeous. The guides had some homemade cakes and fruit for us to munch on before we took off and then we were back in the water, kayaking to a place to snorkel! We ended up somewhere that looked a lot like where we snorkeled yesterday, but the weather was much better and we had life jackets on, so we actually were able to see the fish and feed them! I even got to swim next to a jellyfish (don't worry, the small ones here aren't poisonous). I was so sad when they said it was time to finish the last leg of kayaking. In total, we kayaked 7 kilometers, which is close to 4.4 miles! My arms are going to be so sore tomorrow but it was totally worth it!

Tonight we went to dinner in Market Square by campus and then got Nutella pizza again! These are definitely my favorite kind of days. Although I got a little sunburnt, I'm excited for the rest of this weekend's adventures, Brisbane tomorrow and skydiving plus Australia Day on Sunday! It should be great!!

We managed to kayak away from the nasty clouds behind us and only encountered about 5 minutes of rain!
It literally does not get any better than this.

Our new wallaby friend! It let us get within 10 feet of it and there was a little baby in its pouch!
 Casual snorkeling selfie!
There was lots of stuff floating in the water so it's kind of hard to see but there was all sorts of beautiful fish!
